  1. One of the most common myths about great female abs is that they are genetic. Indeed, some women are born with great bodies and seem to eat whatever they want without gaining a pound. Those cases are fewer than you think, however, and many women with flat, smooth stomachs have put a little effort into getting them that way. With a little change in habit, most women can have great abs.
  2. Another myth about female abs is that in order to achieve a flat stomach, one must spend countless hours in the gym with crunches and other abs workouts. This is not true. Though some abs workouts can help tone your tummy, it is the cardio that produces the flat stomach. Abs get a work throughout the normal course of the day and can maintain their tone. The reason nobody can tell is because there is a layer of fat over the stomach that is hiding some great looking muscle.
  3. You cannot target fat loss on your body. In other words, great female abs do not come from crunches or stomach exercises. They come from your overall conditioning and work out. Your body will determine where you lose your fat and in most cases, the stomach is the last place to lose. That means more cardio and better nutrition to get the tone you are looking for.
  4. Another myth surrounding female abs is that foods low in fat content will help you to lose weight. When fat is removed from food, so goes much of the taste. Many food manufacturers have replaced the fat content in their food with additives to help keep the food appetizing to the consumer. Often these additives include sugar, high fructose corn syrup and god knows what else; all of which will hide those female abs by keeping that layer of fat right where it is. Never confuse low fat products with healthy eating. Most store products that advertise less fat are actually very unhealthy because of the additives.
  5. Gimmicks do not help create great looking abs. Diet pills, electroshock impulse machines and gut-be-gones simply do not work. Stay away from the gadgets and pills. In order to get great looking female abs you are going to have to do a little work and stick with it. You need to exercise every day and eat the proper foods. There are programs out there to help tone female abs and some of them are pretty good. Just remember there is no quick and easy solution, but if its March or April, you still have plenty of time to get there by summer.
